CCL launches first Track & Trace application with
ScanLynx at the Helm
Carnival Cruise Lines, the world's largest cruise line, and ScanLynx
Technologies, Inc., has just implemented their first software
and hardware application. Carnival Cruise Lines identified a serious deficiency
in tracking their photography equipment on all the cruise ships. Each
CCL ship has thousands of dollars worth of photo equipment that is used
for capturing cruising photos for passengers. As a major revenue stream
for CCL, it is critical that all the equipment is accounted for and working
properly.
"Carnival Cruise Lines needs to identify where the photo equipment is
at all times, the history of each camera, repair and return times and
critical warranty information", states George T Stevens III, Chief Operating
Officer at ScanLynx Technologies, Inc. "We have automated
the track and trace process for CCL by using Symbol's Pocket PC scanners,
rugged bar code labels to endure extensive handling and finally, a flexible,
easy to use database onboard each ship."
The software application has been installed on the first ship, THE LEGEND,
and is scheduled to be onboard all 22 vessels by early next year.
